At the same time, it may also be the most underestimated parameter of your training schedule.
For the sake of convenience, we can distinguish two 'types' of rest;
Rest between your exercises
Rest after your workout.
After a set of an exercise you should take a break to build up enough strength to make a good next set. If you do not do this, you will not have enough energy to be able to make a good training set again. This is important to be able to provide a sufficiently large training stimulus. Running these parameters is easy. You look at your watch and wait for the indicated time and then do the next set of your exercise. Do not rest longer, nor shorter!
You also take a rest after a workout. In most cases this is 2 to 3 days. During this period the super compensation occurs. Your body strives to restore homeostasis and to make itself slightly stronger and more resistant to the stressor that initially disrupts homeostasis. So this is when you get better! In this light, you may understand that getting enough rest is essential. Too little rest means too little time to recover and therefore less results. The training is the stimulus for your body that gives it a signal that it needs to become stronger.
Rest is the period in which it has the time and energy to actually become stronger!
